Improving Blow Molding Quality Through Precise Wall Thickness Control

Through the wall thickness control system, material thickness can be adjusted at different positions during the plastic blow molding process, allowing the thickness distribution across different areas of the container to better meet product requirements. Settings can be configured according to different container shapes, materials, and production conditions, improving process stability and ease of operation while retaining the existing blow molding equipment.

This system is specifically developed for wall thickness control applications on hydraulic plastic blow molding machines. It uses an Italian Gefran position transducer for real-time position detection, combined with a Schneider Electric servo valve from France to control hydraulic movements. By integrating position feedback with hydraulic control, the system enables the parison thickness to be adjusted according to specific product requirements throughout the blow molding process.

The system provides up to 100-point wall thickness profile control, allowing operators to divide the entire parison forming stroke into multiple control points and set the required thickness individually at different positions. This enables the creation of a more precise wall thickness profile. Depending on the container design, material distribution can be adjusted around areas such as the neck, shoulder, body, transition sections, and bottom, allowing the parison profile to better match actual molding conditions and structural requirements.

The Gefran position transducer continuously provides real-time position signals, while the control system operates the servo valve according to the programmed 100-point thickness profile, enabling the hydraulic system to respond accordingly at different positions. Compared with simpler fixed or limited-segment thickness control systems, this provides greater adjustment flexibility and is particularly suitable for hollow molded products with complex shapes, larger dimensions, or varying wall thickness requirements across different areas.

The system is suitable for both continuous extrusion blow molding and accumulator-head extrusion blow molding equipment. It can be integrated according to the hydraulic system, mechanical structure, and production conditions of an existing blow molding machine. By adding multi-point parison wall thickness control while retaining the original equipment, the system improves adjustment flexibility, process stability, and ease of operation.
